YOUNGSVILLE, La. - A bases loaded triple in the sixth inning by Abby Andersen lifted the Nicholls State University softball team to a 4-1 win over Manhattan to close out the Mardi Gras Mambo at the Youngsville Sports Complex.

The game was knotted at 1-1 after each team plated a run in the fifth. After the Jaspers grabbed a 1-0 lead, Claire Sisco doubled and scored on an Erin Krause sacrifice fly.

In the sixth, Melise Gossen led off the frame with a triple but was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice. A single and a walk loaded the bases and Andersen came through with the game-winning hit.

Anissa Villalobos led off with a hit for Manhattan but was thrown out at second trying for a double. Molly Yoo got two groundouts to finish off her complete game.

Yoo struck out four and allowed a single run on six hits. It was the second victory for the freshman on the weekend. 

The offense totaled eight hits, led by Samantha Gwiazda with two.

Nicholls will host Alcorn for a Wednesday doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. The games will be streamed on ESPN+.
