LAFAYETTE, La. - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team dropped both matches over the weekend in the Louisiana Winter Classic.
The schedule was altered after Texas schools were unable to travel due to the weather conditions in the Dallas area. Nicholls fell 6-1 to host Louisiana on Friday before being defeated 5-2 by Tyler Junior College on Saturday.
Omar Morsy highlighted the weekend for the Colonels, winning both of his matches on the top line. He outlasted UL's Alejo Ferrer Chueca in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 10-4, and followed with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) victory over TJC's Diego Dalisay on Saturday. Morsy improved to 4-0 on the season.
Harry Collins also won in singles against Tyler Junior College. On the No. 2 court, Collins earned a straight-set 6-4, 7-5 victory over Tim Riedel.
In doubles play, Nicholls dropped both points but did receive a 7-6 (7-4) win by Morsy/
Quentin Lamothe against TJC.

The men are back on the courts on Tuesday, Feb. 7 as the Colonels host Alcorn at 2 p.m.
