THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team dropped another tough 4-3 match in Southland play, falling to the UIC Flames on Wednesday afternoon at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
Similar to the 4-3 loss against Lamar, the Colonels (6-9, 0-3 SLC) jumped out to the early lead by winning the doubles point. But the Flames (7-11, 2-1 SLC)Â secured their second league win by claiming four of the six singles matches.

Quentin Lamothe tied it with a 6-3 win at No. 2.Â

Antonio Sasso then gave Nicholls the 1-0 advantage with a 6-4 win at No. 3.
In singles, UIC grabbed a 2-1 lead after wins on Courts 6 and 2.
Lukas Morand fell in straight sets to Kevin Kruzel at 6 while
Ilian Borlee dropped his match 6-1, 6-3 against Aleska Bucan.Â
Sasso continued his stellar play in singles, picking up his fifth consecutive straight-set victory with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ammar Wazir. But UIC went back up with a 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) win by Gustavo Schwebel over
Quentin Lamothe.Â
The match came down to the top court with Morsy picking up a 6-2 in the opening set against Pelle Strandberg. The two battled it out in the second with UIC evening it up in a tiebreaker at 7-6 (7-5). Strandberg then finished it off with 6-3 for the team victory.Â
