LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Nicholls State University women's tennis team fell in both of its Southland matches on the road over the weekend, dropping a 4-3 match at Lamar before falling 7-0 against McNeese.
With the losses, Nicholls is now 9-9 overall and 1-2 in league play. They will host UIW and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi next weekend.
Thursday against Lamar, the Colonels were victorious in doubles play but only came away with two wins in singles.
Nicholls dropped the first completed match at No. 3, but rallied back for the doubles point.

Dareen Hassan clinched the point with a 6-4 win.
In singles, the Lamar took courts 1, 6 and 3 in straight sets before the Colonels battled back to even the score. Bouygues earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Elana Rubio before Cruz outlasted Margarita Nikonorova, 0-6, 6-3, 6-2.
But in the deciding court at No. 2, Noelia Lorca outlasted
Sophia Sara Safarova in three sets, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.
On Saturday at McNeese, the only win for the Colonels came on the No. 3 court in doubles as Bouygues/Hassan were victorious in a 7-6 (7-5) match.
Although the Colonels were shutout in singles, four of the matches went to three sets.
Simona Maksimovic, Hassan, Cruz and Bouygues all notched a set victory against the Cowgirls.
