THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 6-1 victory against Loyola New Orleans on Friday afternoon at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
Before the match, the Colonels recognized five seniors --
Griffin Babineaux,
Wout Doumen,
Ricardo Machado,
Omar Morsy, and
Prasanna Pravin Bagade, along with three seniors for the women's program -- Carla Bouygues, Laura Lopez, and Simona Maksimovic.
For the match, Nicholls won the doubles point by taking two of the three courts before winning five singles matches in straight sets.
Looking to pick up a win on Senior Day, Babineaux and Machado came up short in a 6-3 loss to Loyola's Kent Shiell/Herman Aure at No. 3. But

Antonio Sasso secured the victory at No. 2 with a 6-1 win for the Colonels before Morsy/
Quentin Lamothe clinched the point with a 6-4 triumph on the top court.
In singles play, Morsy notched his 10th win of the season with a 6-4, 3-0 (retired) victory over Francisco Arce at No. 1.
Ilian Borlee quickly followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 to put Nicholls a point away from clinching the team victory.
Lamothe stamped the Colonel win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Samuel Motazed at No. 3 before Pravin Bagade celebrated Senior Day with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Aure.
Loyola's point came on the No. 3 court as Remus Hebhang-Balan defeated Harry Collin, 6-1, 6-2.

The Colonels will head to the Corpus Christ, Texas for the Southland Conference Tournament. Opponent will be determined once the regular season wraps up over the weekend.
