THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls State University Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach
Stefanie Slekis will be holding a Fundamentals of Cross Country Camp from June 12-15.
The cross country camp will assess your athletes' ability level in distance running, teach fundamental running mechanics and skills needed to improve as a cross country and distance track & field athlete. Many of the skills that will be worked on will benefit the athletes' performance in other sports as well.
Camp will be led by Coach Slekis; along with other staff members, current cross country student-athletes and experienced distance runners. Each camper will leave with a suggested summer training plan based on their ability level and a better understanding of how to establish process and outcome goals to improve as an athlete in any sport.
"Our staff is thrilled to host our second annual Fundamentals XC Camp," Coach Slekis said. "Last year, we had a great time teaching local young runners the fundamentals of our sport and setting the tone for their upcoming cross country seasons. In our sport, a strong summer foundation is key to a great fall season and understanding the 'little things' that can help you get better day in and day out are especially key to having a great championship season. We are looking forward to another great camp this year and the opportunity to prepare some of our local region runners to have the knowledge to prepare for a great season this fall."
