THIBODUAX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team will travel to Nacogdoches, Texas to battle Southern Miss, Cal Poly, and host Stephen F. Austin to begin the month of September. On Friday, Sept. 1 the Colonels will play Southern Miss (11 a.m.) and SFA (4 p.m.).
Last weekend, the Colonels began the season going 1-2 in the Bearkat Invitational hosted by Sam Houston State. The Red & Gray beat Portland 3-1 for head coach
Jonea Rima's first Division I victory.
Freshman outside hitter
Autumn Perry had an impressive start to her collegiate career finishing the weekend with one double-double, 25 kills, 28 digs, and six service aces to earn All-Tournament honors.
Southern Miss (0-3) began their season against stout competition in Texas. First, the Golden Eagles played at #23 Rice and then battled #19 Houston, and #22 USC in the Flo Hyman Classic hosted by Houston.
SFA (2-1) started their season in Mobile, Alabama in a tournament hosted by South Alabama. The Ladyjacks defeated Jackson State and Tulane and fell to USA.
Cal Poly (2-1) opened their season in the Sacramento State Invitational where the Mustangs clipped Sacramento State and Nevada and fell to Iowa.
UP NEXT
The Red & Gray will travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to compete against Mississippi Valley State and host Southern Miss.
