Lauren Andre's first career goal gave the Nicholls State University women's soccer an early edge over Jackson State, but the visitors scored four unanswered goals to hand the Colonels a 4-1 loss Friday night at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
After a pregame ceremony that honored the late Ainsley Pratt by retiring her No. 28 jersey, the Colonels needed just 14 minutes for their first goal of the season. Andre blasted a free kick by the JSU (1-2) goalkeeper for the 1-0 advantage. Andre totaled four shots on the night and had another free kick on target. As a team, the Red and Gray fired off a season-high 14 shots but could not push across another goal.
Jackson State had 17 shots on the night and found the net twice before the break. Chantae Blackwood scored in the 33rd minute to knot the game before Kendyl Terrell gave the Tigers a 2-1 advantage before the intermission.
In the second half, Harper Bennett scored early for Jackson State and Kalia Uehara added the final goal in the 68th minute.Â
Elizabeth Zepeda totaled four saves on the night. Her counterpart, Rebecca Jamieson, also had four saves.Â
