THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team was beaten 69-63 by New Orleans inside Stopher gym on Thursday night.
After a hot shooting first quarter by both teams, the Colonels offense cooled off and shot under 35 percent from the field in the second, third, and fourth quarter. Additionally, the Privateers had the advantage in the paint (26-18) and in the turnover battle (17-20).
The Colonels had four induvials finish the contest in double figures. Senior guard
Mikayla Etienne led the Colonels offense with 16 points including four shots from long range. Sophomore forward
Lexi Alexander hit five field goals and five free throws to finish with 15 points.
Freshman guard
Britiya Curtis and junior forward
Deonna Brister each had 11 points and combined for 17 rebounds. Curtis posted a career-high nine rebounds and four steals and Brister hit three triples and had a season-high eight boards.
Senior guard
Kyla Hamilton chipped in with five points, five rebounds, and a team-best four assists.
UNO was led by DeArica Pryor who had 21 points.
