THIBODAUX, La - The Nicholls State University men's and women's Track and Field teams are set to compete at the McNeese Indoor Invite on Thursday Jan. 26 and Friday, Jan. 27 in Lake Charles. 

This is the second meet of the indoor season and the Red & Gray are hoping to build upon the success they had in the season opener at the LSU Purple Tiger Event. 

Head Coach Stefanie Slekis gave her thoughts on the upcoming event. 

"We're feeling great as a staff and since January 8th we've had a really good training block with everyone back together so we're excited to see another benchmark this weekend, especially with our sprinters and runners competing in longer distances," Slekis stated. "We were also able to enter more jumpers for this meet so we're eager to see where that entire group is together." 

Coach Slekis shares the team's goals for this weekend. 

"We're really looking to see progress and growth from the first meet," Slekis said. "For our distance runners, we want to see an increase in their fitness and for our jumpers and throwers we want to see improvements in their technical issues."

After competing in Lake Charles, the Red & Gray will have some time off before returning to Baton Rouge for the LSU Twilight on Friday, Feb. 16.
