COMMERCE, Texas – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team fell 71-67 to Texas A&M-Commerce inside The Field House on Saturday afternoon.
The Colonels started the game on fire, hitting seven of their first 11 field goal attempts, to jump out to an 18-8 advantage in the first quarter.
In the second, the Lions fought back with a 9-0 run and generated a six-point lead. However, Nicholls finished the quarter strong to tie the action at 35 going into the intermission.
The second half was a defensive battle that saw both teams hit 10 field goals apiece. In the fourth quarter, the Colonels only connected on two field goals that were over six minutes apart. In between the buckets, the Lions went on a 10- 6 run while forcing eight empty possessions for the Red & Gray. Overall, the game saw nine lead changes and six ties.

Britiya Curtis who registered 16 points and six rebounds. Senior guard
Kyla Hamilton stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, six assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

Daelyn Craig recorded her first career double-double, finishing with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field. Her classmate
Deonna Brister tallied 10 points and three rebounds. Senior guard
Mikayla Etienne finished with 13 points to claim her fifth double figure performance since SLC action began.
