• The Nicholls State University football team concludes its three-game home stand by hosting the SFA Lumberjacks in their first meeting since 2019. Nicholls is 3-0 at Guidry Stadium this season while SFA is searching from their first victory in Thibodaux since 2014. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be listened to on KLEB 102.7 FM | 1600 AM.

• Nicholls stayed undefeated at home with a 24-19 Homecoming victory over McNeese last weekend. The win was the fourth straight against the Cowboys, matching the program's longest winning streak in the all-time series. Freshman running back Miequle Brock led the offense with 101 yards rushing on just nine carries, while Terry Matthews had a career day with eight receptions for 94 yards. Coming off being named SLC Defensive Player of the Week, linebacker Jake Dalmado had another monster game with 10 tackles and four sacks and repeated as player of the week. Eli Ennis continued his MVP season as well with a game-clinching interception.

• SFA is coming off a win last week after blowing out HCU, 55-6, also on Homecoming. Sam Vidlak threw for 316 yards with five touchdown passes, earning SLC Offensive Player of the Week. Jaylen Jenkins led the rushing offense with 21 carries for 110 yards while Jordan Nabors had three receptions for 108 yards and one touchdown. SFA limited HCU to 208 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers.

• Nicholls and SFA will be meeting for the 37th time with the Lumberjacks holding a 25-11 advantage in the all-time series. However, after dropping the first meeting under Tim Rebowe, Nicholls won four straight from 2016-19. The first victory was a double-overtime thriller at Guidry Stadium with the Colonels winning 35-28. The Colonels then picked up a rare road win in the series with a 34-13 victory in 2017. Nicholls won the next meeting 47-14 at home before going on the road for a 48-30 for the last matchup in 2019. The series was put on hold when SFA elected to play in the fall of 2020, then left the Southland to join the WAC/UAC before returning to the SLC this summer.

A WIN OVER SFA WOULD...

... extend the Colonels' winning streak in the series to five games. Nicholls had only won back-to-back games once prior to the current streak.
... give Nicholls its 12th win in the all-time series (12-25).
... give Nicholls its third 4-0 start at home under head coach Tim Rebowe. The Colonels started 4-0 at Guidry in 2017 and '18.
... improve Coach Rebowe's record in the SLC to 49-26.
... improve Rebowe's record vs. Texas schools to 32-17.

BY THE NUMBERS

7 -- Linebacker Jake Dalmado shot up the national rankings with nine sacks over the last two weeks, now ranking third in the FCS with nine on the season. His 4.0 sacks against McNeese are the most in the Rebowe Era, surpassing Kenny Dotson's 3.5 in the win at SFA in 2017.

21 -- The Colonel defense tallied turnover No. 21 last weekend and again it was courtesy of Eli Ennis who ended the game with an interception. Nicholls has the second most turnovers gained in the FCS, trailing only Mercer's 22.
