Colonel VB Concludes Regular Season Against Lamar & SFA

THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team was beaten by Stephen F. Austin and Lamar in the final two home games of the season.
 
GAME ONE: Nicholls (0) vs SFA (3) | (24-26, 20-25, 15-25)
 
The Colonels recorded double figure kills in all three sets and hit .200 for the match but the Ladyjacks offense executed more to take the match.
 
The Red & Gray offense was paced by setter Evelyn Trivino Espinosa who dished a game-high 27 assists. Tierney Terrell led the attack with 10 kills followed by Leah Linares Castro who had nine.
 
The Colonel defense was anchored by Espinosa who registered nine digs while Makila Billingsley and Terrell had eight apiece. In the middle, Jordan Gamble had three blocks while Khara Morton and Billingsley each had one.
 
GAME TWO: Nicholls (0) vs Lamar (3) | 17-25, 19-25, 22-25
 
The Colonels offense hit .129 and tallied double figure kills in the final game of the season. The Cardinals put together multiple point runs with 16 service aces to keep distance from the Colonels.
 
In the first set the Cardinals pieced together a six-point run to take momentum. In the second frame, Lamar went on a five-point surge followed by a four run to take the set by six despite the Colonels tallying three more kills.  The Cardinals went on a pair of four point runs in the final stanza.
 
The Red & Gray offense was paced by setter Evelyn Trivino Espinosa who dished a match-high 25 assists. In her final game as a Colonel, Makila Billingsley registered 10 kills to lead all scorers. Gamble and Terrell added six kills apiece.
 
Defensively, Nonato had 10 digs while Espinosa and Terrell had nine and eight, respectively. Billingsley, Morton, and Castro had one block apiece.
