THIBODAUX, La. – Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week Tanita Swift poured in 28 points in the Nicholls State University victory over Alcorn State University inside Stopher Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
 
Swift picked up where she left off last week as she shot 9-17 from the field and 10-13 from the charity stripe while stuffing the stat sheet with eight boards, five assists, and four steals.
 
The Colonels jumped out to a 16-6 lead early and built a 19-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Braves responded with 9-2 run, but the Colonels retook control of the game and led by eight at the intermission (32-24).
 
The second half was all Colonels as they outscored the Lady Braves by 11.  The Colonels kept the momentum rolling as Deonna Brister hit a pair of triples and a layup to score eight of her 12 points in the third. The Colonels led by 13 after three and coasted in the fourth to earn their third consecutive victory of the season.
 
The Red & Gray won the turnover and rebound margin by 10 and seven enroute to scoring 25 points off turnovers and 15 second chance points.
 
Britiya Curtis finished the game with nine points while Malaya Jones scored eight as a spark off the bench. Brister matched Swift's eight rebounds to lead the Colonels.
 
For Alcorn, Destiny Brown scored 20 points and hauled in a game-high 14 boards while Zy'Nyia White added 15 points.

After improving to 3-1 on the season, the Colonels hit the road to play Louisiana in Lafayette on Friday at 6 p.m.
