THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team will begin the 2024-25 campaign at Louisiana Tech on Monday, Nov. 4. The action from Ruston will begin at 11:30 am and will be live streamed via ESPN+.
Nicholls, coming off a 14-18 campaign are led by second year head coach
Justin Payne. The Red & Gray brought back five letterwinners including three starters. Additionally, the squad welcomes 10 total newcomers including six transfers with Division I or JUCO experience.
The returners include reigning SLC Freshman of the Year and Preseason All-SLC selection
Britiya Curtis who put together an impressive rookie campaign where became the second consecutive Colonel and fourth in program history to earn SLC Freshman of the Year. She reached double figures in 16 contests including nine with at least 15 points. In a win over Texas A&M-Commerce she exploded for 28 points while hitting 10 field goals and 4-8 from long range.
Also coming back for the Colonels are senior forwards
Deonna Brister and
Daelyn Craig. Brister averaged 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds while Craig averaged 3.3 points and 4.1 rebounds.
LA Tech leads the all-time series 6-1 with the Colonels lone victory coming in 2013.
