BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Nicholls State University men's and women's track and field teams concluded the indoor season at the 2024 Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 25-26.
The women's unit received scoring contributions from the distance competitors while the men had one scorer in the field.
Freshman Miaria Nikolaou scored four points after placing fifth in the women's 800m race with a time of 2:18.66. Her classmate
Sophia Harrison notched a point after placing eighth in the women's 5K with a time of 18:23.31.
Additionally, Nikolaou teamed up with fellow freshmen
Layla Ingalls, and
Kassidy Besson, and senior
Nia Maye to score two points in the Women's Distance Medley (12:45.97).
Freshmen
Cherie Neal and
Jinte Braas placed sixth and eighth in the pentathlon with scores of 3223 and 3188, respectively. Their efforts move them to No.2 and No.3 on the program's all-time lists.
On the men's side, freshman
Christopher Tucker had the lone Red & Gray point after leaping 14.35m to place eighth in the men's triple jump.

After a few weeks off, the Colonels return to action and begin the outdoor season at the Louisiana Classics hosted by UL in Lafayette on Saturday, March 16.
