NATCHITOCHES, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team's comeback effort fell short in its 55-47 loss to Northwestern State inside Prather Coliseum on Thursday night.
After trailing by as much as 19 with five minutes left in the third quarter, the Colonels offense began to click as they got as close as three (47-50) after senior guard
Mikayla Etienne hit a triple to with 5:21 to go in the fourth.
However, Nicholls would go scoreless the rest of the way and the Lady Demons would hit five free throws in the final five minutes to put the game ice.
The Colonels' offense began the game the same way they finished it as they shot 6-31 (19%) in the first half and trailed by 14 (18-32) at the intermission.

Lexi Alexander secured her fourth double-double in the last five games as she led the Colonels with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Etienne hit multiple 3-pointers for the 12th time this season and finished with 10 points while her classmate
Kyla Hamilton had nine points, four rebounds and three assists. Junior forward
Deonna Brister chipped in with six points and 10 rebounds.
