Colonel Men's Tennis drops match at LSU, 6-1

BATON ROUGE, La. - Harry Collins earned a straight-set victory against LSU to up his singles record to 3-0 but it would be the only point for the Nicholls State University men's tennis team as the Colonels were defeated 6-1 Sunday evening at the LSU Tennis Complex.

Coming off a three-set win in the home opener against Jacksonville State, Collins needed just two sets to pick up a win against Chen Dong on line 3. The two battled to a tiebreaker in the first set before Collins secured a 7-6 (7-4) win. In the second, he came out on top with a 6-4 victory.

Quentin Lamothe also claimed a set victory but fell in a 10-point tiebreaker at No. 2.  He bounced back from a 6-1 loss to Rudy Ceccon with a 6-2 victory in the second, but fell 10-4 in the tiebreaker.

For the rest of singles play, Antonio Sasso was the lone Colonel in defeat to win three points as he fell 6-3 in both sets against Welsh Hotard at No. 5.

Lamothe and Sasso had a strong showing in doubles as well. Playing on the top court, the duo had a 5-4 lead when play was suspended when LSU secured the point. Collins and Kotaro Matsumura fell 6-3 at No. 2 before Omar Morsy/Gerhard Venter were defeated 6-2 at No. 3.
