THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team secured its fourth three game series sweep after beating Grambling State University 5-2 on Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field on Saturday.
The Colonels jumped out to a 2-0 lead after
Parker Coddou hit a sacrifice fly in the third and
Basiel Williams hit an RBI single to right field in the fourth.
In the following inning, Tiger Borom continued his impressive weekend by hitting an RBI single to split the deficit in half. In the home half of the frame, Coddou laced a double down the line to plate a run, and later scored despite
Garrett Felix hitting into a double play.
Kade Turnage singled up the middle to bring around the fifth run for Nicholls. Borom added his second RBI in the seventh.
Starting pitcher
Michael Quevedo improved to 3-0 on the season after striking out seven batters and allowing two runs in 6.2 innings of work.
Devin Desandro came in and picked up his first save of the season after pitching 2.1 scoreless innings.
