NATCHITOCHES, La. - Senior Audrey McNeill threw her second shutout of the weekend as the Nicholls State University softball team swept Northwestern State with a 2-0 victory on Sunday at Lady Demon Diamond. 

McNeill wrapped up her outstanding weekend with seven more scoreless frames, allowing just three hits while striking out seven. The senior pitcher struck out nine with two hits allowed in her shutout in Game 2 on Saturday.

Neither team scored until the fifth when Mckenzie Champagne pinch hit for the Colonels and drove in a run on a groundout. Then in the sixth, Alexa Poche' made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly.

McNeill struck out the side in the NSU sixth before working around a leadoff double in the seventh. She forced a line out and a fly out before ending the game with her seventh strikeout.

Nicholls (15-10, 3-0 SLC) had four hits in the win with Claire Sisco accounting for two. She scored the second run after leading off the sixth with a base hit. The Colonels took advantage of two hit-by-pitches for the extra run on Poche's sac fly.

Poche' started the fifth with a base hit and was subbed by pinch runner Abby Andersen. Following a walk and a sacrifice bunt, Champagne hit a grounder to second for the first run of the day against Kenzie Seely. 

Seely took the loss with two earned runs on three hits in 5.1 innings. She struck out five and walked one. 

Erin Krause had the other hit for the Colonels with an infield single in the seventh. 

The sweep was the first for the Colonels in Natchitoches since 2008. With the losses, Northwestern State dropped to 11-15 overall and 0-3 in the Southland.
