THIBODAUX, La. - For the second time in the series, the Nicholls State University softball team was unable to produce more than a hit against McNeese as the Colonels fell 2-0 in Saturday's rubber match on Swanner Field at GeoSurfaces Park. 

Erin Krause beat out an infield single in the second inning and stole a base but she was the lone Colonel to make it past first the entire game. Shaelyn Sanders threw all seven innings and struck out nine after fanning 10 in Friday's opening victory.

The Colonel pitching continued to be solid as well. Audrey McNeill took the loss despite just a lone earned run in 4.0 innings of work, and Molly Yoo threw 3.0 hitless innings in relief. Yoo had an outstanding weekend with a total of 10 shutout innings against the Cowgirls and two hits allowed.

McNeill gave up two leadoff hits in the third but was able to escape by retiring the next three batters, including ending the frame with one of her three strikeouts. But in the fourth, Corine Pocho led off with a base hit and scored on a Mariana Torres triple to right. McNeese added an insurance run in the inning on a Colonel error.

The next six Colonels were retired before Claire Sisco drew a leadoff walk in the sixth. But she would be the last batter to reach against Sanders as McNeese took the series with the win.
