LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team will battle Southeastern in a pivotal matchup at the Pride Roofing University Center on Thursday night.
After dropping two league road contests last week, Nicholls (13-16, 7-10 SLC) enter the final regular season game in a four-way tie. However, after UNO and Texas A&M-Commerce victories on Wednesday night, the Red & Gray will be the seven seed going into next weeks SLC Tournament in Lake Charles. If the Colonels beat the Lady Lions, they will play the Texas A&M-Commerce and with a loss the Colonels will play the Privateers in the first round.
The Colonels' offense features four players who average double figures in SLC play. Sophomore forward
Lexi Alexander leads the way with 14.2 points and 7.1 rebounds.
Freshman guard
Britiya Curtis averages 11.4 points while shooting 40% from the field and 37.7% from beyond the arc. Senior guard
Kyla Hamilton stuffs the stat sheet with 10.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists, while her classmate
Mikayla Etienne averages 10.2 points.
The Lady Lions are led by Hailey Giaratano who averages 11.2 points and Taylor Bell who scores 10.3 points and grabs six boards per game.
