THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team won its fifth match in a row after a 7-0 victory over Prairie View A&M on Friday afternoon at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
Nicholls improved to 11-6 overall and will go for Win No. 12 on Saturday for Senior Day against Loyola New Orleans. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the Senior Day set to start at 1:40 pm for both the men's and women's teams.
In doubles against Prairie View,
Omar Morsy and
Quentin Lamothe won 6-3 at No. 1 and
Harry Collins/
Kotaro Matsumura pitched at shutout at No. 3.
For singles,
Antonio Sasso secured the second point of the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 and Matsumura put Nicholls ahead 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5.
Harry Collins posted the same score as Sasso in his straight-set win at No. 2 and
Gerhard Venter won his match at No. 6, 6-2, 6-3.Â
The final point of the match was claimed by Morsy with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on the top line.Â
