HOUSTON, Texas – The Nicholls State University track and field teams competed in the 2024 Southland Conference Outdoor Championship on Holloway Field and Ley Track on May 9-11.
The Colonels had multiple top-10 finishes throughout the weekend.
The Red & Gray's
Sophia Harrison placed fifth in the women's 10K with a time of 41:32.16. She also posted a time of 18:31.53 to finish 13th in the 5K.
Issy Rivault placed 10th in the women's 3K steeplechase with a time of 11:49.19.
In the women's heptathlon,
Cherie Neal (4532),
Jinte Braas (4398), and
Andrea Tirado (3828) finished sixth, seventh, and 10th and now have the second, third, and fourth best performances in the event in program history.
Amiyia Matthews had the 10th best mark in the women's javelin as she launched the projectile 35.58 meters. Neal and Matthews teamed up with
Danya Satterfield and
Nia Maye to place seventh in the 4x100 with a time of 47.74.
