Barrett’s Late Goal Not Enough in Tuesday’s Contest

THIBODAUX, La – Senior forward Koryn Barrett scored the fifth goal of her career in the Nicholls State University soccer team's 2-1 loss to Troy at Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
 
In the 86th minute, freshman midfielder Mylea Riggle connected with Barrett to score the first Red & Gray goal of the season.
 
The Trojans scored their two goals within the first 31 minutes action. First, Olivia Simpson was setup by Danielle Trovato (11:44) before Sofia Sasan benefitted from a well-placed corner kick by Trovato.
 
Despite being outshot 18-6, the Colonels only had two fewer shots on target. Barrett, and Peyton Bastine took two shots, while Delaney LaMotte, and Riggle took one apiece. Senior goalkeeper Megan Cook tallied three saves.
 
The match was physical throughout as the teams combined for 17 fouls and three Colonels were issued yellow cards.
