THIBODAUX, La.  – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team will cross state lines to go on their longest road trip of the season to take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Jan. 25) and UTRGV (Jan. 27).

After nearly a month away from home, Nicholls (11-6, 4-4 SLC) was able to split its first two home games of 2025 last week. First, the Colonels fell to Lamar (67-53) before earning a comeback victory over SFA (75-71).

The Red & Gray offense is spearheaded by junior guard Tanita Swift who is the SLC's leading scorer as she averages 15.9 points while dishing a team-high 3.3 assists. Britiya Curtis has reached double figure points in six of the last eight games as she averages 10 points while being efficient. Deonna Brister averages 9.4 points while grabbing a team-high 5.5 rebounds.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (10-8, 2-5 SLC) split a pair of road games last week as the Islanders beat HCU (62-55) before falling to UIW (76-58). The Islanders are led by Mireia Aguado and Paige Allen who average 11.8 and 10.8 points, respectively.

UTRGV (9-10, 4-4 SLC) fell back to .500 in league play after dropping road contests to UIW (52-43) and HCU (67-64). The Vaqueros are led by Kade Hackerott and Charlotte O'Keefe who average 12.8 and 10.3 points, respectively.

Despite winning the most previous matchup, the Colonels are 10-15 all time against the Islanders. Last season's victory was the first in the series since 2019. Nicholls is 5-1 all time against UTRGV as the teams clashed twice a year from 1988-91.
