THIBODAUX, La. – After earning a pair of road victories, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team will return home to host HCU (Jan.30) and McNeese (Feb.1) inside Stopher Gym.

Last week, Nicholls (13-6, 6-4 SLC) improved to third in the SLC after defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (59-43) and UTRGV (58-50).

The Colonels stout defense was on full display as they forced at least 19 turnovers in their last three wins. The unit now has the second-best defense in the SLC only allowing 56.5 points per game and now ranks third in turnover margin (2.47).

The Red & Gray is spearheaded by Tanita Swift who leads the squad in scoring (14.7), assists (3.4), and steals (1.9). Deonna Brister and Britiya Curtis average 9.6 points apiece while Elli Garnett adds 7.2.

A week ago, HCU (5-14, 2-8 SLC) dropped a pair of road games to UNO (62-55) and Southeastern (65-41). The Huskies have lost seven of their last nine contests and their leading scorer Erin Maguire averages 9.9 points.

On Monday, McNeese (8-12, 3-6 SLC) broke a four-game skid with a win over Texas A&M- Corpus Christi (59-54) and will come to Thibodaux after hosting UIW on Thursday. The Cowgirls are led by Paris Guillory who averages 15.5 points.
