Nicholls Soccer Heads West to Battle East Texas A&M

THIBODAUX, La  -- After splitting games last week, the Nicholls State University women's soccer team will travel to Commerce, Texas to battle East Texas A&M on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
 
Nicholls enters the week 4-6-1, 1-2 SLC after splitting league games last week. After securing the first Southland Conference regular season victory since 2018 over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi the Colonels fell to McNeese on Sunday.
 
Avery Mondoux, who is one of six SLC players with at least five goals this season, is the Colonels points (11) and goals (5) leader followed by Mylea Riggle who has 10 points on four goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Aislinn Wright has been stout in net as she 51 saves in 11 starts. She has the seventh best save percentage in the SLC (.729).
 
East Texas A&M enters the matchup 3-5-3, 0-0-3 SLC have tied all three league contests so far this season. They played both Lamar and McNeese to 2-2 draws while their last contest against UIW was a scoreless tie.
 
Mya Mitchell is the Lions' points (14) and goals (6) leader followed by Hannah Bell who has three goals. Mitchell and Bell are joined by Alana Lawless-Felarca as Lions with multiple goals and two assists this season. The Lions have used three goalkeepers with Gillian McKenzie leading with 26 saves followed by Veronica Pacione (21), and Makayla Gonzalez (8).
