Ty Marsh has been named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week as the league office announced Monday morning its weekly football awards.
Marsh sparked the Colonels' defensive effort in the 31-7 win over McNeese, totaling four tackles, an interception for a touchdown, and one sack. With Nicholls leading 10-7 in the third quarter, Marsh tallied his second pick-6 of the season with a 45-yard return. In 20 career games for the Colonels, Marsh has four interceptions and has returned three for touchdowns.Â
Marsh and the defense allowed just 264 yards as the Colonels secured a fifth straight victory against McNeese, which is the longest winning streak for Nicholls in the series history.
