Women’s Hoops set to Play FSU in Tallahassee

THIBODAUX, La. – After splitting the first two games of the season the Nicholls State University women's basketball team will travel to Tallahassee, Florida to battle Florida State University on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Tipoff from the Donald L. Tucker Center is scheduled for 11 a.m. and the action will be streamed via ACC NETWORK EXTRA.
 
Last week, Nicholls (1-1) opened the season with a six-point victory over Alcorn State before dropping a road contest at UTEP. FSU (2-1) began the season with a pair of home victories over Florida A&M and Georgia Southern before losing to No. 1 UConn on the road on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Red & Gray balanced offense features two newcomers that is making an impact offensively, averaging double figures after two contests.  
 
Leading the way in both games was transfer guard Sh'Diamond McKnight who poured in 18 points in the season opening win and 10 in the game at UTEP. Another transfer, Jasmine Matthews matched McKnight's six made field goals and added four foul shots to finish with 16 points in the victory over Alcorn.
 
The Colonels are also getting contributions from their younger players as sophomore guard Jesslynn Jalomo connected on five field goals including three triples as she added 15 points in the win over Alcorn. Freshmen guards Makayla Charles and Anyra Wilson are averaging seven points apiece and Wilson leads the squad with seven assists.
 
The Seminoles offense features three double figure scorers as Sole Williams leads the team with 15.7 points per game while shooting 46% from long range. Sydney Bowles and Pania Davis add 11 and 10.3 points while Allie Kubek and Tatum Greene average 9.7 points apiece.
 
UP NEXT
After the matchup in Tallahassee, the Colonels will return home for their home opener against Louisiana on Friday, Nov. 14. The action from Stopher Gym will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed via ESPN+.
