Colonels Set for Louisiana Debut Friday at Tulane

THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's basketball team will make its Louisiana debut for the 2025-26 season, taking on the Tulane Green Wave on Friday, Nov. 28. Tipoff inside Fogelman Arena is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Still searching for its first win, Nicholls (0-5) has yet to play at home but Friday will be its first game in the Pelican State. The Colonels are set to play seven road contests to open up the season before making their Stophen Gym debut on Dec. 6 against league foe UIW.

After struggling on offense in their first three games, the Colonels have scored 79 and 81 points in their last two games. In the 95-81 loss at undefeated Oklahoma State, Jalik Dunkley scored a Colonel season-high of 22 points while Sincere Malone added 18. The duo is part of four Colonels averaging double figures in scoring after five games with Trae English (13.8 ppg) leading the way, followed by Dunkley and Malone (11.6 ppg) and Jaylen Searles (11.3 ppg).

Tulane (4-2) is 2-1 at home this season with its loss coming against Southland member New Orleans. It was the first of two straight setbacks for the Green Wave but they were able to bounce back with a 93-90 overtime win over Boston College in their last outing.

The Green Wave are led by Georgetown transfers Rowan Brumbaugh and Curtis Williams Jr. Brumbaugh is averaging 21.3 points per game in his second season at Tulane while Williams Jr. (14.5 ppg) is coming off a 32-point effort against BC.

Tulane has won the last four meetings against the Colonels and has a 21-1 record in the all-time series. Nicholls last made the trip to Uptown in third-year head coach Tevon Saddler's debut, falling 91-81 to start the 2023-24 season.
