OMAHA, Neb. - The Nicholls State University men's basketball team wrapped up its seven-game road swing to start the season with a 96-76 loss at Creighton on Tuesday night.
Nicholls (0-7) continued to trend up on the offensive side by following its best shooting effort last game with a 45 percent outing against Creighton (5-3), but the Bluejays drained 17 three-pointers at a 50 percent clip to keep the Colonels winless on the season.
The Colonels made a season-high 53 percent from behind the arc, fueled by

Trae English added 12 points and four assists while
Jaylen Searles totaled 10 points and seven rebounds.
Nicholls led only once as
Jalik Dunkley hit a three-pointer to start the game. Creighton answered with a 12-0 run but the Colonels hung close in the early going, trailing 20-17 after an English bucket inside.
But the Bluejays sank 10 three-pointers in the half and went into the break with a 52-35 advantage. Creighton went up by 10 with six minutes to go and saw a 20-point lead in the final minute before Winborne canned a triple.
In the second half, Nicholls shot 58 percent from the field but the deficit stayed in the 20s for most of the period.
