THIBODAUX, La. - Playing at home for the first time, the Nicholls State University men's and women's tennis teams both earned 7-0 victories over Coastal Alabama Community College on Wednesday at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
The men (1-1) started off the day by winning all three doubles matches to claim the point.Â

Colin Tavares/Mike Wood finished off doubles with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Matsumura nearly picked up a shutout in his 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2. Spagnuolo followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 andÂ
Jewan Labuschagne clinched the team victory after winning in the third set via retirement.
Tavares added a straight-set win at No. 3, 6-1, 6-4, and Lindstedt outlasted his opponent at No. 1, 7-5, 7-5. Wood finished off the sweep with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 win at No. 6.
For the women (1-1), the Colonels won all three matches in doubles as well.

Nicholls dominated singles play with eight 6-0 set victories and each match ended in straight sets.
Sophia Sara Safarova, Piquet and Losada each picked up shutout wins while Inna, Bordiginon and Grube Andersen finished off the perfect day with victories.
