THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team fell to University of Texas Rio Grande Valley 13-2 at UTRGV Baseball Stadium on Friday night.
After falling behind 3-0 after two innings, Nicholls (8-12, 3-4 SLC) got on the board as
Chase Jans who hit a two out single scored on a
Jaden Collura double to center field. However, the Vaqueros extended their lead by adding four runs on two hits and one error in the third.
The Colonels added a run in the fourth, when
Aaron Biediger hit a double and later scored on a
Fisher Ingersoll groundout. UTRGV added two runs on a pair of homeruns in the stanza to extend the lead to 9-2. The Vaqueros scored three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to secure the run rule victory.
The Red & Gray had seven hits and left seven on base. Jans led the Colonels with three hits while
Jaden Collura had two.
Logan Mock and Biediger finished with one a piece. On the mound, starting pitcher
Michael Lindsey struck out three batters while allowing four hits, six walks and seven runs in 2.2 innings.
Luke McGibboney allowed three hits and four runs in two full frames while Brennan Woody allowed two hits and two runs in 1.1 innings of work.
