THIBODAUX, La.  – The Nicholls State University men's and women's track and field teams will send two relay squads and two distance runners to compete in the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on March 26-29.

The Colonels will have Chad Clark Jr., Nisiah Bennett, Jordan Jackson, and Andrei Fuentes to run the men's 4x100m relay while Isabelle Seijhouwer, Layla Ingalls, Anne de Jong, and Maria Nikolaou will run the 4x400m relay. Lucas Futey will compete in the men's 10K while Issy Rivault and Elaina Hansen will compete in the women's 10K.

Nicholls Head Coach Stefanie Slekis' thoughts on the upcoming meet.

"We're excited to head to Austin Texas with our largest groups yet. This is our big 10,000m opportunity for Luke, Issy, and Elaina who are all coming off 3000m personal bests indoors and we set our periodization up from indoor to be ready for this 10k to be a PR opportunity and we'll be chasing the school records and all-time list. The men's 4x100 had a great opener and all set personal bests indoors so we're excited to bring them to this competitive environment and see what they can do. Same for the women's distance medley relay they all had their best indoor season yet setting lifetime personal best and are ready to chase the school record!"

Last week at the Louisiana Classics, the Red & Gray had two flights finish within the top three in the relay events. In the women's 4x800m relay the combination of Maria Nikoulou, Isabelle Seijhouwer, Layla Ingalls, and Anne de Jong placed second with a time of 9:30.97 while Kalin Baratka, Kalynn Beacom, Payton Theriot, and Lotte Aerts clocked a time of 10:49.17 to finish third.

In the men's 4x800m relay the combination of William Nizzo, William Bellina, Ceasar Gonzalez, and Goran Duijusters placed second with time of 8:10.51 while Jake Fabacher, Alex Hartline, Adam Gautreaux, and Ty Fraizer placed third with a time of 8:37.96. Nisaiah Bennett, Michael "Trey" Crawford, Andrei Fuentes, and Jodan Jackson sprinted the 4x100m relay in 41.89 seconds to claim fifth.

Both teams had strong showings in the field.  For the women's squad, Sydney Brown soared 1.58 meters in the high jump and 10.77m in the triple jump to claim seventh place in both events.
