THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team pushed its winning streak to four matches with home victories against Mississippi Valley State and Co-Lin Community College.
Nicholls (10-8) hosted MVSU on Wednesday for a doubleheader and secured both matches, 4-0. In the first match,Â

Gerhard Venter won 6-2 in doubles to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead. The teams did not play doubles in the second match.
The Colonels went up 2-0 with a default win in singles, then
Colin Tavares and Venter won in singles to finish the match. In the second contest, Tavares, Spangnuolo, and Labuschagne all won in singles for the 4-0 victory.Â
Against Co-Lin on Thursday, the Colonels won all three doubles matches with Wood/Spagnuolo and
Kotaro Matsumura/Tavares each claiming shutouts.
For singles play, Spanguolo was the first to earn a point with a shutout win at No. 4, then Labuschagne followed with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6. Tavares and Matsamura secured the team victory with straight-set wins at 3 and 2, respectively.Â
