HOUSTON, Texas – The Nicholls State University track and field teams competed in the 2025 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Holloway Field in Houston, Texas on May 15-17.
The Colonels had multiple individuals finish within the tip 15 of their respective events. The team was led by
Issy Rivault who scored two points by placing eighth in the women's 3K steeple chase (11:28.37) and in the women's 10K (38:41.22). She finished the calendar year with 12 top 10 finishes including three victories. Program record wise Rivault now ranks third in the outdoor 5K, fourth in the outdoor 10K, and third in the 3K Steeple.
Additionally on the track,
Alaila Allen,
Iyauna Vicks, Maria Nikoulou, and
Layla Ingalls placed seventh in the women 4x100 with a time of 50.11 while
Jordan Jackson,
Andrei Fuentes, Conner Gil, and Nisaiah Bennett place 10th in the men's 4x100 with a time of 42.05.
In the field,
Sydney Brown placed 11th in the women's high jump (1.62m) and triple jump (11.29m). She now ranks sixth and fifth on the Colonels' all-time list for the events.
Jarred Whitrack launched the shot put 13.39m to place 15th in the men's event. He also threw the discus 41.82m to claim 15th place in the men's discus throw.
Gavin Windham tossed the javelin 54.13m to place 10th in the men's event while
Gracie Baker (36.98m) and
Charlie Ann Fuhrer (35.05m) placed 13th and 14th in the women's javelin throw.
Jinte Braas and Allen placed 11th and 13th in the women's heptathlon.
