Nicholls Men's Basketball to Begin 4-Game Texas Swing

THIBODAUX, La. - With only six games remaining in the regular season, the Nicholls State University men's basketball hits the road for two weeks straight looking to secure a spot in next month's Southland Conference Tournament.

Nicholls (10-15, 9-7 SLC) begins the trip this weekend with a 4 p.m. matchup at UIW on Saturday before heading to HCU on Monday for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

The Colonels have five road wins this season including three in Texas. Saturday's game with UIW marks the first of four straight games in the Lone Star State. Nicholls recently lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UTRGV at home but still split the season series after winning on the road to close out 2025.

Despite the two losses at Stopher Gym, the offense received a large boost as senior Trae English netted 16 and 20 points on a combined 12 of 22 from the field. He also now leads the Southland with 2.1 steals per game after racking up nine in the two games. English had been dealing with an injury and saw just nine minutes in his first game back in the win at Northwestern State in the Colonels' last road test.

Nicholls has won the last six against UIW (10-15, 5-11 SLC). The Colonels opened league play this season with a 74-67 over UIW at home.

Following the win over the Cardinals, the Red and Gray secured a 79-64 win over HCU which was Nicholls' second win of its seven-game conference winning streak to start the season. The Colonels have had the upper hand in the all-time series against the Huskies as of late, winning the last 12 matchups.
