LAFAYETTE, La. -- The Nicholls State men's and women's track and field teams accumulated 12 top-10 marks and multiple personal bests at the Louisiana Classics hosted by Louisiana on March 20-21.
Nicholls shined brightest in the four relay events on the track. The combination of
Isabelle Seijlhouwer,
Issy Rivault,
Ana Letran Cartes, and
Anne De Jong won the women's 4x800m relay with a time of 9:27.42. In the same event,
Makayla O'Neal,
Payton Theriot,
Lotte Aerts, and
Gracie Daigle took fourth place after clocking a time of 10:13.44.
William Bellina,
Alex Hartline,
Christian Rowe, and
Preston Mire placed third in the men's 4x800m relay with a time of 8:24.56. The combination of
Callahan Leahy, Nisaiah Bennett, Jonell Scott, and
Connor Gil sprinted the men's 4x100m relay in 40.73 seconds to finish fourth.
Rivault and Seijhouwer set personal best times of 4:40.72 and 4:41.73 to place third and fourth in the women's 1500m race.
Andrea Tirado placed ninth in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.07 while
Ava-Claire Calais placed 10th after finishing shortly after (1:08.36). Bennett placed seventh in the men's 100m dash after posting a personal best time of 10.38.
In the field,
Iradi Blasco soared 1.70m to claim third in the women's high jump. Gil had a 6.88m mark to earn seventh in the men's long jump while
Benjamin Rodrigue leaped 13.87m to place fifth in the men's triple jump.
