BATON ROUGE, La. – The Nicholls State Universitry men's and women's track and field teams had multiple personal bests and combined for 28 top five finishes at the 2026 Pelican Relays hosted by Southern University on April 10-11.
Nicholls efforts was highlighted by four event victories. Nisaiah Bennett won the men's 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 21.21.
Mason Heffernan won the men's 3000m race with a time of 9:30.82.
Issy Rivault won the women's 3000m race after clocking a time of 10:21.70.
Iradi Blasco kept her momentum rolling as she won the women's high jump with a personal best 1.75m leap which ranks 46th nationally.
Bennet placed second in the men's 100m dash with a tome of 10.50 while Jonell Deuce Scott placed fifth with a time of 10.69. Scott also placed fourth in the 200m race with a time of 21.61.
A'Miah Thomas sprinted the women's 100m dash in 12.21 seconds to claim third place, while
Iyauna Vicks posted a personal best time of 24.84 in the women's 200m race to claim fifth.
Isabelle Seijhouwer (1:01.36) placed fourth in the women's 400m race while
Ava-Claire Calais clocked a personal best 1:08.15 to finish fourth in the women's 400m hurdles race. Ana Letran placed second in the women's 800m race with a personal best time of 2:22.45 while Anne de Jong (2:28.53) placed fifth in the same event.
Avery Guidry placed third in the women's 1500 with a season best time of 5:20.79.
Brady Sins placed second in the men's 3000m race with a time of 9:33.58 while
Lotte Aerts (11:18.87) and
Payton Theriot (11:37.32) placed second and third in the women's 3000m race.
The Colonels also had a strong showing in the field as
Jenna Cicherski placed third in the women's discus and javelin throws with 42.54m and 36.60m tosses. Baylor Bourgeois placed fifth in the men's javelin throw with a 49.75m mark.
Mackenzie Glynn and
Jinte Braas placed fourth and fifth in the women's javelin event with 34.54m and 30.64m marks, respectively.
Connor Gil soared 6.92m to place fifth in the men's long jump. While
Benjamin Rodrigue leaped a season-best 13.93m to place second in the men's triple jump.
All four Red & Gray relay units placed within the tip five of their event as the combination of Vicks, Seijlhouwer, Letran, and De Jong won the women's 4x400m relay with a time of 4:11.68. Calais teamed up with Kaylan Beacom,
Makayla O'Neal, and
Gabriella O'Neal to place second in the same event with a time of 4:27.72.
Callahan Leahy joined Bennett, Scott, and Gil to place third in the men's 4x100m relay with a time of 41.22.
William Bellina,
Alex Hartline,
William Nizzo, and
Christian Rowe placed fifth in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:36.82.
