Colonel Softball Garners 4 All-Louisiana Honorees

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Nicholls State University softball's Kayleigh Lugowski was named All-Louisian First Team, Molly Yoo landed on second team, and Claire Sisco and Madison Moak received honorable mention as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) announced Tuesday its 2026 collegiate softball awards.

Following a two-year absence off the all-state squad, Lugowski and Yoo gave Nicholls its third straight year with multiple players named first or second team.

Lugowski had a breakout season as the designated player, batting .343 with a team-high seven home runs with 24 RBIs. She totaled eight multi-hit games and two of her three-hit efforts came late in the season against in-state rivals Northwestern State and McNeese. Lugowski is the first Colonel to be named All-Louisiana First Team and All-Southland First Team since her teammate Erin Krause received both in 2023.

Yoo was a two-time SLC Pitcher of the Week, starting 24 games in the circle as she finished with a 17-11 record with one save and a 3.17 ERA. She ranked second in the Southland in innings pitched (161.1), tied for third in strikeouts (101), fourth in wins, and tied for seventh in ERA. Yoo had a standout series in the sweep of McNeese, allowing just one earned run in 12.1 innings.

Moak shined in her lone season with the Colonels, ranking 10th in the Southland with a .369 batting average to go along with six home runs and 37 RBIs. Her 17 doubles ranked fourth in the SLC and 49th in the NCAA. Moak was a tough out against Louisiana schools this season, batting .415 with 17 hits and 10 RBIs.

Sisco tallied 70 hits on the year, ranking fourth in Southland with a .398 batting average. She ranked in the Top 10 of the SLC in several categories -- first in stolen bases (29), third in runs scored (52) and hits (70), tied for fourth in triples (4) and sixth in on-base percentage (.473). As the Colonel leadoff hitter, she ranked 20th in NCAA in steals and 13th in percentage.

A Louisiana Sports Writers Association panel of media and sports publicists selected the All-Louisiana team. The teams include college softball players from NCAA Division I and III, NAIA and junior college.
