THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team (6-5) will wrap up non-conference action against Southern and Jacksonville State at the Crimson Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Friday, Sept. 18. The Colonels will play the Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. followed by their match against the Gamecocks at 7 p.m.
 
Nicholls (6-5) enters the weekend on a two-game losing streak after dripping a home match against Grambling on Wednesday night. The Colonels had control of the contest as they won the first two sets before the Tigers offense started clicking to take the five-set contest.
 
Southern improved to 2-6 on the season after beating SUNO (3-1) ono Tuesday. Southern started strong as they took the first set 25-20 before the Knights took set two 25-23. The Lady Jaguars responded by taking the third and fourth set, 25-18 and 25-20, respectively.
 
Jacksonville State (1-8) is currently on a seven-game losing streak. The Gamecocks won their second match of the season against Southern (3-1) before starting the slide. JSU has only won five sets during its losing streak.
