PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Nicholls State University freshman forward
Jezlyn Nelson scored her fourth goal of the season in the Colonels 1-1 draw with Prairie View A&M on Thursday afternoon.
Nicholls' (2-2-3) offense had multiple opportunities to score throughout the game as they out shot PVAMU 12-6. However, they could not find the back of the net until sophomore midfielder
Kate Guillory connected with Nelson with a cross from outside the box to tie the contest with less than five minutes remaining.
The Colonels trailed for almost 20 minutes as the Lady Panthers' Jennifer Montes scored on an assist by Emely Reyes to put PVAMU up 1-0 in the 66th minute.
Angelina Rispone led the Colonels with five shots including four on target, while
Kaylie Harris and Nelson had two apiece.
Sammi Doyle,
Olyvia Pugh, and Guillory had the other shots for the offense.
In net, Nicholls goalkeeper
Aislinn Wright had three saves while PVAMU's Natalie Grajeda had six. For the rest of the box score, both teams earned four corners and PVAMU committed six fouls.
