ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team pushed its winning streak to three matches with a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Wiley College and Mississippi Valley State on Saturday inside the Harrison HPER Complex.
Nicholls (5-2) took down Wiley to start the day, 25-6, 25-21, 25-14 before going on to knock off MVSU in three sets as well, 25-14, 25-16, 25-10.
In the opener, the Colonel defense limited Wiley to a negative hitting percentage (-.012) while hitting .286 in the win. Nicholls racked up 15 kills in each of the first two sets, but Wiley had just one in the first before finishing with eight in the second for the closest set.
Zahahrah Edwards-Wyllie paced the offense with 13 kills at a .647 hitting clip, while
Mckenzie Mitchell and
Harper Holden had eight each. Holden and Mitchell also combined for seven of the Colonels' nine aces.
For the match against MVSU, Nicholls posted a .322 hitting percentage while the Devilettes finished at .000. The best hitting clip for the Colonels came in the opening set with a .364 mark.
Kera Arrington totaled 12 kills in the victory and Edwards-Wyllie and Mitchell followed with seven apiece.Â
For the day,
Isabella Padilla dished out 28 and 31 assists while
Natalia Navarro had double figures in digs in both matches, totaling 26.

Nicholls will head to Alabama State for three matches next weekend, starting with a Friday doubleheader against Miami (OH) and South Carolina State.
