2013 (Freshman): Started 28 matches and played 98 sets in her first season with the Colonels... Finished the year with a team-leading 340 kills, 31 aces, 219 digs and 27 blocks... Accumulated 386.5 points on the season... Had her best game against UT-Martin, racking up 25 kills and 15 digs in the win on Sept. 14... Had 56 attack attempts against the Oral Roberts.

Prior to Nicholls:

At Plano East High School: Was an all-district selection every season as a member of the Panthers, earning the offensive player of the year award as a sophomore and junior...Had over 180 kills with five straight games with double-digit marks... As a junior, amassed over 400 kills, 200 digs and 50 service aces... Played club ball with Excel 17 Elite... Was a member of FCCLA and the German Club at Plano East.

Personal: Full name is Kayla Ann Burling, born Feb. 21 in Plano Texas... Daughter of Doug and Michelle Burling... Has two older brothers in Brendan and Brian... Majoring in psychology.
