2017 All-SLC Honorable Mention Shortstop

2018 (Senior): Started in 59 games (SS) … Finished with the team’s highest batting average (.341), totaling 79 hits, 38 runs and 38 RBIs … Led the team in multiple-hit games with 25 … Posted 10 games with multiple RBIs, with a season-high four RBIs against McNeese (May 24) … Stole eight bases on 14 attempts … Earned All-SLC Second Team honors after finishing second in the conference in hits during conference play (49) and posting the SLC’s fifth-best batting average during conference play (.389).  

2017 (Junior): The only Colonel to start all 56 games … All 56 starts came at shortstop … Batted .254 in 201 at-bats with 51 hits, 36 runs scored and 18 RBIs … Tallied 10 doubles, a triple and a homer … Walked 24 times … Stole a team-high 13 bases in 17 attempts … Totaled 14 multiple-hit and six multiple-RBI performances … Reached base in the final 13 games of the season … Recorded 10 errors on 269 chances for a .963 fielding percentage … Led the SLC (pre-conference tournament) with 169 assists.

2016 (Sophomore): Started all 56 games at shortstop … Batted .258 with 50 hits, 27 runs scored and 24 RBIs … Tallied six doubles, two triples and a homer … 11-for-12 in stolen base attempts … Made just 14 errors in 261 chances for a .946 fielding percentage.

2015 (Freshman): Started all 54 games for the Colonels in his inagural season with Nicholls... Recorded 31 hits, 16 runs, 12 RBIs, nine stolen bases, three doubles, a triple and a home run, while drawing 25 walks through 154 at bats... Had 73 putouts and 196 assists from shortstop... Scored a season-high two runs against Southeastern La. on March 29... Went 2-for-3 in a win over Houston Baptist on May 3... Had a season-high two hits, four times... Had a season-high two RBIs in wins over Alcorn State on March 31 and Louisiana-Lafayette on March 12... Homered against Central Arkansas on April 12.

At Mariner: Lettered all four years of high school… District champs in 2012 and 2014… Named team captain in 2013 and 2014… Named team MVP in 2013… Selected to the All-Conference team in 2013… 2^nd Team All-Area in 2014… Participated in the Bartley’s All-Star Game in 2014… Led the team in stolen bases in 2013 and 2014.
 
Personal: Full name is Joseph Nicholas Morales, born July 30 in Naples, Fla.... Is the son of Jorge Morales, who works in construction and Michelle Morales, a waitress... Has two brothers Michael and Matthew… Majoring in Business Administration and hopes to own his own business.
