Erik Schoenrock

Erik Schoenrock joined the Nicholls baseball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in July 2016.
 
Schoenrock will serve as the Colonels’ field coordinator and assist with pitchers.
 
Schoenrock comes to Nicholls after spending the past season with the University of Memphis as a student assistant. Schoenrock coached first basemen defensively and worked with hitters in the fall, while assisting in a number of additional areas.
 
Prior to his time with the Tigers, Schoenrock was a pitching coach for Licking County in Newark, Ohio. He helped coach the Settlers to a third-place finish in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. Schoenrock’s pitching staff led the league in both ERA and strikeouts.
 
Schoenrock also spent time as a pitching coach for St. George’s Independent School in Collierville, Tenn. Under his leadership, the Gryphons won the 2-A State Championship, which was the first title in school history. Schoenrock’s pitching staff posted a 1.83 ERA and finished with a 29-14 record.
 
Before entering the coaching ranks, Schoenrock had an illustrious player career. He was drafted in the 11th by the San Diego Padres in 2013 and was named Northwest League Pitcher of the Year during that season. He was also selected as a Minor League All-Star and played in the Northwest League all-star game.
 
Schoenrock played collegiately at Memphis, where he was the 2013 Conference USA Pitcher of the Year and a First Team All-Conference honoree.
 
A native of Collierville, Tenn., Schoenrock was a standout pitcher at Collierville High School, where he was selected to the All-District and All-Region Team. He helped lead the Dragons to three state semi-finals appearances.
