Tyler Coolbaugh was hired as the Director of Player Development for the baseball program in January 2020. He is in charge of educating the Colonels on the analytical side of baseball. Additionally, he also assists with video analysis for the Nicholls coaching staff, promotes player academics and serves as liaison for professional baseball.
Coolbaugh joins Nicholls following a multi-year stint in Minor League Baseball, competing within the Gulf Coast League, Carolina League, Frontier League and New York-Penn League.
Coolbaugh graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in Communication, spending three seasons with the Sooners and another two (2016 & 2017) at Angelo State to finish out his collegiate career. The utility athlete was a member of the 2013 Big 12 Championship squad and secured First Team All-Conference honors both seasons at Angelo State, earning an eventual 36th Round Draft selection by the Baltimore Orioles.
