Tyler Trahan was named Director of Sports Medicine for Nicholls State University Athletics in May of 2019. As a staff member of Thibodaux Regional Health System, he will oversee the entire Colonel athletic training department.
A Nicholls alum, Trahan returned to Thibodaux after spending one year at the University of New Orleans. While at UNO, he was the head athletic trainer for baseball and golf where he was directly responsible for evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illness of the student-athletes. He also coordinated all NCAA drug tests performed within the department.
Trahan spent the previous eight years at Nicholls where he earned both of his degrees - a bachelor's in athletic training and a Masters of Education, Higher Education and Administration. After serving as a graduate athletic trainer for the baseball team while assisting with football, he transitioned into a full-time position with Nicholls and Thibodaux Regional in the summer of 2016. For the next two years, Trahan worked with Colonel baseball, football, women's and men's tennis, and softball.
While in Thibodaux, Trahan worked with the Manning Passing Academy and the Offensive/Defensive Linemen Camp for five years and spent a summer as an intern for the New Orleans Saints.
