Anthony Camp is in his third season with the Nicholls State University football program as the defensive line coach.
In 2016, Camp’s defensive line produced 34.0 tackles for loss and 19 sacks. A big portion of the increased pressure was due to true freshman Sully Laiche, who earned First-Team All-Southland honors after recording 9.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss. Not only was Laiche’s sack total one of the best in the Southland, but he finished the year ranked 12th in the NCAA.
Camp came to Nicholls after coaching for six seasons in the high school ranks in his hometown of Baton Rouge. From 2012-14, Camp was the defensive coordinator at Catholic High where the Bears compiled a 26-8 record during his three-year stint. Catholic shared the District 5-5A title in 2013 and won it outright in 2014. In his final season, the Bears finished 9-2 and advanced to the Division I select quarterfinals for the second straight year.
Before coaching at Catholic, Camp spent three years at his alma mater, Parkview Baptist, as a defensive assistant. While at Parkview, the Eagles claimed the Class 3A title in 2010.
Camp served as a graduate assistant at Louisiana-Lafayette, helping coach the Ragin’ Cajun defense alongside Tim Rebowe.
Camp earned his degree from McNeese State University in 2007.
